You’re right, the HTML viewer doesn’t support this, and right now we’re not actively developing it.

All is not lost however, because you have a couple of choices.

Rob, the original author of the HTML viewer, is working on a different, more customizable, webapp viewer called Scimpi; this will be part of the NOF core in the next release (and you can see it as a submodule in http://www.nakedobjects.org).

Alternatively, I’ve been working on a new sister project which is an Apache Wicket-based viewer, also customizable. I blogged about it recently (http://danhaywood.com/2010/06/28/wicket-objects-v0-1-give-it-a-tryood-enough-to-try-out/) and there’s a website and user guide at http://wicketobjects.sourceforge.net.

To your question: the Wicket viewer certainly does have a JCalender-like widget, and I’m pretty sure that Scimpi does too. And in any case, both are customizable, so adding/modifying this support is easy in Wicket/should be easy in Scimpi.
