I think that on certains environments both Apache Passenger and Nginx+Unicorn are too much.

Especially for Rack frameworks like Sinatra and small Rails apps.

Thin is a good chance to manage applications without bothering with complex installations and configurations.

I am using it and does its job well.

What’s your experience about thin in production environments?
