USB driver

I had previously downloaded the driver supplied by Samsung for my Galaxy tab and now I cannot replace it with the Google USB driver provided with Android SDK. The procedure described in the site suggested in the book doesn’t work. I have the correct driver on my PC but Windows 7 doesn’t let me replace the old one. In fact the tab is seen by the PC as an external hard drive!
