IMHO, the “Installing From Source” section needs work for the Mac.

The book says “tmux also depends on libevent and ncurses, and you’ll need the prerequisites for these as well.” Nowhere does the book explain how to do this for the Mac and of course the build fails without these two dependencies.

That’s a really good point – I’ll need to find a mac without the prerequisites on it and try again. Thanks for pointing this out.

Might be worth recommending Mac users look at the Homebrew (http://github.com/mxcl/homebrew ) package manager, I have successfully installed tmux via that route.

I second homebrew. It’s simple and straightforward.

Homebrew is covered in the book already though. Installation from source is just shown as an option in case the package manager falls behind, or if you want to get a bleeding edge version.
