TransitionView example posted by Michael Keith @ Sat, 19 Apr 2008 15:26:08 -0000

hi there,

just a quick question regarding the TransitionView example (page 36 of the march 26 pdf).

you say:
bq.”If you’d like to specify that as well you can do so with a similar line of code, just change the
"subviews" key with
“superview” and set the animations dictionary on the sub@view.”

based on that i would assume the following would be added:

self.beach.animations = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:[self animation] forKey:@"superview"];
self.snow.animations = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:[self animation] forKey:@"superview"];

but this doesn’t appear to have any effect, so i assume i’m missing something.

what is the desired result? is it something like specifying kCATransitionPush instead of kCATransitionMoveIn for “subviews”?

cheers,

Mike

Moving in (3D) Space posted by Bill Dudney @ Fri, 04 Apr 2008 01:45:43 -0000

Hi Stefan,

Sorry to get back to you so late. The book does go over the matrix from a ‘how to use it’ perspective but not from a ‘how does it work’ perspective.

Thanks for your interest!

Moving in (3D) Space posted by Stefan Frey @ Sat, 29 Mar 2008 11:15:01 -0000

CATransform3D matrixes bear a lot of mystery for me. I hope the book will shed some light on how to use them.
The math may be beyond the scope of this book, but you could discuss some of the “knobs” it contains: e.g. is there an equivalent to the “focal length” of the camera?

Hello!

Needless to say that I agree with you! Dear Pragmatic Programmers, provide us with more Cocoa and Mac OS X technologies books. Nobody seems to care about Cocoa developers!

Hello, I’m a Cocoa programmer “Wanna Be” and wish that there were more recent books about cocoa programming. There are a few that cover the basics but none cover any of the recent APIs. Thanks for this one and hope that you come up with more.
