(Screencast #1) directory path problem

First I want to say the tutorials are great. My problem is understanding the directory structure. I’m using my hosting account at HostGator and I’m following the directions on the screencast. Prior to updating the site associated index file, Ryan Irelan set a path to his template directory on the server. I have tried many combinations of /public_html/ringo/templates and I keep getting the same error message. Each time I hit the update key, I get the message that the file has been updated, but I also get this “Unable to save your template as a text file” and I can’t figure out why. In order for me to load my web site, I need to place my index file in the /public_html directory and then I simply point my browser to http://blogpeak.com (an example) if I were to place the file in a sub directory, I would point to http://mysite.com/sub so, it would seem the path should be /ringo/templates but that doesn’t work. Any ideas would be most appreciated. |

Hi Stephen. Thanks for checking out the screencasts. For the template directory path you need to set it for your specific server setup. The path I used it specific to my setup. If you don’t know your absolute file path to your hosting account, you might want to email Host Gator support or look in the support documentation. |
