I found an answer on another forum. The guy was getting the same error, I did the same thing he did and it resolved my issue:

Ok, so the 1st time I had included the framework, I had selected to copy it to my project. Even though I then removed it, all prior attempts to fix this problem resulted in the linker ALWAYS using the local copy – so all my attempts where null and void. heh, bummer.

I shutdown xcode, went into the project and deleted the MessageUI directrory. Opened the project and it built.

The MessageUI Framework is checked… there doesn’t seem to be a difference between the settings for the Simulator and the Device. I unchecked MessageUI in the Simulator and it was then also unchecked for the Device. I rechecked it for the Device and it was then checked for the Simulator.

I will keep poking around but any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chris,

Guessing that you are missing the MessageUI framework from the simulator target.

With the simulator target selected in the pull-down select your frameworks and make sure that messageui is checked.

I am using the MessageUI Framework in my App. When I compile the App and run it on my iPhone, it works fine – sends an email and dismisses the modal view. But when I compile the exact same code in the Simulator, I get an error:

”.objc_class_name_MFMailComposeViewController”, referenced from:
literal-pointer@OBJC@cls_refs@MFMailComposeViewController in Offices.o
ld: symbol(s) not found
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

If I comment out the mailComposeController method, it compiles fine on the Simulator. It’s not really a problem at the moment but am I doing something wrong? I will need to get this working correctly if I’m going to compile and submit to the App Store.
