Topic: The Ruby Object Model and Metaprogramming / My heartfelt thanks to Dave Agreed. I’ve been doing a lot of ruby lately. By osmosis (read: a lot of debugging) I’ve learned how to make things work, but this screencast explains WHY it works. Thanks Dave! |

Topic: Agile Web Development with Rails, 3rd Edition / Typo p.328? Ah-ha! I didn’t mean to nitpick, but I found myself reading it over and over to try and figure out if it was intentional. In part, my OCD is to blame. You might consider this common programming affectation of note. I certainly do. But, no matter—Thanks for a great book. Cheers, |

Topic: The Ruby Object Model and Metaprogramming / Zip Format Corrupt? I’m running Hardy Heron and have ‘unzip’ installed:
Archive: v-dtrubyom-v-01.mov.zip
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of v-dtrubyom-v-01.mov.zip or
v-dtrubyom-v-01.mov.zip.zip, and cannot find v-dtrubyom-v-01.mov.zip.ZIP, period.
What’s going on here? Also, ditto on the codec. I have a mac, but it doesn’t mean I want to put Quicktime on my Linux box. Can’t wait to get these things unzipped and start watching. Cheers, |

Topic: Agile Web Development with Rails, 3rd Edition / Typo p.328? Looking at this migration, we can see why it’s hard for Active Record to divine the relationships between tables automatically.
ActiveRecord is good, but can it “divine” things? |

Topic: Agile Web Development with Rails, 3rd Edition / Text Editors for Rails (p38) I would like to ditto e-text editor as being a fantastic clone. It costs money, though. When do we get our *nix TextMate, gentlemen? |
