Is this just a port of what you did in the EE screencasts?

Hi Jason,

The Engine City Times website is the same but built on 2.0. The information covered is not exactly the same, however.

Thanks for making the book. Hopefully, there will be more EE 2.0 books in the future. I plan on getting yours soon.

Hi Ryan, I’m trying out the example from your book, and there’s a problem with related_categories_mode:

In the View template first the full article is displayed, it’s OK, but below, where article excerpts from related categories should be displayed, only the same article is shown as the main article above. I hope I made myself clear. I tried everything, and I don’t see a solution. All the articles are in the same category: News>World. And I used your sample code for all templates. What am I missing?

Alexander, I ran into this too. This is a bug in the beta of EE 2.0. See the EE discussion forum post at:

I also submitted this to their bug tracker. I decided to move on forward in the book and wait until they do a new release which will hopefully fix the bug.

On a separate note, depending on when you did your download of EE 2.0 beta, they did do one hot fix that affects the Pages Module. See this bug report and info on how to get the fix. It affects creation of the About page (pdf book page 102-103).

Where can we download the templates files as suggested on page 49 of your ebook? I can’t find it.

You can go to the books page and there’s a link to the code.

I downloaded both files but they’re only 142 bytes, it’s just an empty folder inside.

Your right, they are empty. Not sure what happened but I downloaded them a few days ago and it was working fine then.

Is there anyway you could email them to me? - I’d appreciate it in advance!

Sorry for the trouble, there was a glitch with the code download files. Should be fixed now.
