Currently the CoffeeScript compiler stops at the first line it can’t parse, and outputs: - the line number with the issue - a message that sometimes doesn’t accurately describe the problem - a stack trace into the compiler

For example, if you forget that comments start with # instead of //, you’ll get a message that says “Unexpected ‘IDENTIFIER’”.

Is anyone working on improving these things?

There are definitely several open issues along these lines, but the state of affairs is pretty bad. That’s one reason I like the feature in TextMate where you can select a few lines of code and hit Cmd+B to just build those; it really helps you isolate the sources of syntax errors.
