I feel like the 1000+ change in @wc@ is almost unfair as today had a lot of code samples. Though I guess that counts because I did actually write the code and refactorings to it while writing the book, so… Considering that this is the 9th day of writing (missed on last week), I’m pleased with the > 1k words a day rate I’m on right now.

Only 300 words tonight after a busy day and a late start to writing. Tomorrow, I’ll try writing first thing.

I wrote a short portion in the morning, and I thought I wouldn’t be able to finish since I had such a busy day today. But in the end, right before midnight I managed to finish my 890 words, for a grand total of 11,137 words or 33 PDF pages. I’m now a Flamingo in 750words! (this means, a 10-day streak).

I’m so happy, I had never managed to write even for this long continuously, and we are only one third through the month.

Like Diego, I had a really busy day today and didn’t know if I would be able to finish my writing comittment for today. But I did, and I am up to 13,100 words total. I had this moment of exhilaration where I started to understand another employee in my office. I had just a moment of dawning enlightenment, but I think I understand her a bit better now. The rest of the night was just slogging through 3 pages of output with a determined spirit and two soothing herb teas and a couple of breaks. I need to write 2.5 pages tomorrow in order to fully make up for missing Monday’s work. I should be able to do that easily plus invest a little time reviewing what I have already written and thinking about where to go.

Raymond, hang in there and keep trying. You can do this…I can sense it.

Josh, I’ve been skimming your postings but I need to study what you are saying, rather than skim them, and think about them. I hope to have something sensible to say in a couple days.

This writing stuff is hard. It is a major challenge. Very slowly I am learning things that I never would have if I didn’t try.

Got to it late today after a long day fighting with a horrible web framework. Fleshing out the openings of several sections now added another 700 words for 3200 total after 4 days.

Well it is 1:46 a.m. and I’m ready to fall on my face and snooze peacefully away, but not before I offer you a quick suggestion. Don’t worry about web frameworks or fancy stuff like that at this point. Just fire up your favorite word processor and write and let the words flow unabated. That is what will help you produce the book. Everything will go a lot smoother. You’ll still have days of wondering how to kick start the writing. But there will be moments that are really wonderful.
