Recipe #13 “Handle Multiple Models in One Form” does not work in rails 2.3.2 (or at the very least I could not get it to work), but there is a good description of what has changed on the “rails blog.”:http://weblog.rubyonrails.org/2009/1/26/nested-model-forms It’s a whole new structure for nesting models in a form.
To be more specific, the problem that I had with the recipe in the book was that if I added multiple tasks, they all had the same id, so only one was saved. Ultimately, I ended up using “this example on github”:http://github.com/alloy/complex-form-examples/tree/master
Anna - thanks for posting on this, I was running into similar shortfalls with the solution. Can I ask how you handled the ajax rendering of your collection partials. It took me a couple of hours to wrap my head around all the jscript that is involved in that example. It almost seems that this adds more complexity to the solution rather than simplifying it.
I’m hoping that my lack of understanding is preventing me from seeing the more straightforward (and less dynamic) solution.
Any feedback would be appreciated!!
Thanks! Bob Baird
