I realize that you are probably trying to stay agnostic but I think it would be helpful to provide some guidance on why one would pick one over the other (I may have missed it but I think what I saw in the book was mostly on ix and x.)

I don’t really know much about Neovim so wonder if there’s a good reason to pick it.

Thanks for bringing this up. In case you missed it, the appendix on “What’s next for Modern Vim” covers some of the features that you can look forward to in Vim and Neovim in the future. You’re right though, I do need to add a bit more information to help the reader decide between Vim and Neovim in the present.

I’ve added a bit more information about Vim 8 and Neovim to the introduction of chapter 1, “Get Modern Vim”. You’ll get to read it in our next beta release.
