I know it is impossible to include absolutely every last minute piece of advice in a book like this but I thought it might be useful to mention Aptana when going through the creation of the first project demo.

I only mention this as Aptana has already been mentioned in the book and as a complete newby to Rails and having come from a Delphi development environment with little front end web development skills I have found this to be an invaluable tool in my endeavours to get my head round a huge learning curve.

The latest Aptana Studio release has options to choose which database you want to use when you create a new rails app and it makes the whole process really simple for novices that maybe want to go with something other than SQLLite.

I hope you find this suggestion useful
